Keynote Speaker: Prof. Antonio Lioy – “Trust and integrity in softwarized networks”

Antonio Lioy (MSc in Electronic Engineering, PhD in Computer Engineering) is Full Professor at the Politecnico di Torino (Italy), where he leads the TORSEC research group active in ICT security. His current research interests are in the fields of network security (especially integrity, optimization and automatic configuration), electronic identity, and policy-based protection of ICT systems. Professor Lioy published more than 100 scientific papers and participated to several EU-funded projects. He was the Coordinator of SECURED (www.secured-fp7.eu) and currently is engaged in SHIELD (www.shield-h2020.eu) which implements network protection via a NFV network augmented with trusted computing and big data capabilities.

SDN and NFV are definitely changing the networking landscape. However, the flexibility and increased functionality offered by softwarized networks come at a price: as software is more vulnerable to attacks than hardware, security is becoming a bigger issue. In this respect, integrity of the software platform and trust in the deployed software components are key problems to be addressed. This talk will review the security challenges posed by softwarized networks and the key technologies and standards to cope with them.
